About Piper
A perspective from every side of the classroom.
I'm honored to be a candidate for the Governing Board of the Tanque Verde Unified School District.
I've spent fifteen years inside the classroom as an educator, including years as an art teacher at Agua Caliente Elementary and Emily Gray Jr. High. I'm also a parent in TVUSD, which means I have been deeply invested in the success of this district from more than one direction. That gives me a perspective I believe is essential: a bird's-eye view from all sides, brought to the table before any vote is taken.
Why I'm running
Today's students are navigating challenges previous generations never faced — pandemic recovery, technology overuse, social isolation. Their mental health must be a central focus moving forward. We need sustainable, student-centered policies that evolve to reflect the needs of today's classrooms and tomorrow's citizens.
Funds must be allocated in a way that gives our teachers the support and resources they need to succeed — even as state and federal budgets are slashed. I understand what makes our teachers feel valued and what leaves them burned out. I understand what our students need to thrive and what holds them back. And I understand what our parents expect from this district.
An "A" rating is a foundation, not a finish line
It would be a privilege to serve a district that holds an "A" rating — a testament to the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, and families. But being an "A" district doesn't mean our work is done. It means we have the foundation to reach even higher.
Academic excellence must go hand-in-hand with emotional well-being, equitable access to opportunity, and meaningful engagement between schools and families. I'm running for the Governing Board to ensure that all of our students and educators — no matter their background — feel supported, challenged, and prepared for life beyond the classroom.
My commitment
Perspectives and challenges change over time. What won't change is my commitment to talking with teachers, students, and parents — and to listen, really listen, to what they have to say.
I believe in this district, and I believe we can continue to grow with transparency, compassion, and accountability. I would be honored to earn your trust and your vote.
